Internet Marketing For Small Business - Double Local Business Profits Even In A Recession

By Moira Wight

Using an internet marketing for small business strategy such as email permission based marketing, local business owners can grow their businesses despite the economic doom and gloom. If I was to ask a passer by in the high street of my local village here in the UK, if it was possible to double the profits of a local business, I am sure they would say, " never - not in today's economic climate!" The reason many people think that you cannot double profits is because they assume a business would need to double the number of customers - and that would be far harder under recessionary conditions.

To answer this question let us look at what needs to happen in order for a business to grow. There are three ways in which a business can grow

1. Get more customers

2. Increase the value of their transactions

3. Get those customers to spend more often

So in order to double the profits of our local business we could in fact try to achieve any and all of these three factors. Results have shown that profits will double even if you are only able to increase the customers by thirty per cent, increase the transaction value by twenty per cent and increase the frequency of purchase by thirty per cent.

Well, you might now say, I can understand all that, but it's still a hard task in the current recession. With the correct internet marketing for small business strategy it is easily possible. As a local business owner you need to learn how to influence other people to interact with you so that they will do business with you and make a purchase. In short you need to immerse yourself and become a student of marketing.

The primary way you can influence others is to build a relationship with them. You can easily do this with a permission-based email marketing system that follows up on your website visitors and others who opt in to your business email list. Install an opt in form on your website so that it captures the details of your visitors in exchange for a free special report as a gift. Once you have their details you need to be following them up with emails that pre-sell products and services as well as useful information that they will appreciate.

This permission based internet marketing for small business strategy works because it establishes a long term relationship with them to the point where they can trust you enough to make a purchase. After a while you will see that the members of your business email list come to know you so well that each time you send out a mailing. to promote a product they need, they will buy. In this way you can increase the transaction frequency, the value of each transaction and the number of customers who are purchasing. It is a well-known fact that consumers do not usually purchase from strangers.

If you can focus on your customer first, and add value to their lives, you will also find that the money side of your business will take care of itself. As you think more about what you can do for your customer you will find that your work becomes far more pleasurable and the money will follow.

So as you can see, by learning some internet marketing for small business strategies like email marketing, it is possible to double the profits of a local business.

Computer Repair Business - Marketing and Social Networking Support

By Phillip David Jarvie

Running a computer repair business means a whole lot more than just having the technical skills of repair, assembly and configuration. Certainly you need to be set up correctly in your workshop area and such that the customer can see you are what you say you are and in order to be efficient with the delivery of services, but just as with any business it is important to be able the other key business issues of marketing, accounting and administration. There's an old adage that "business would be fun, if it wasn't for all these customers", but in fact I have always loved my customers and it is the administration parts of business that I've never been keen on.

Outsourcing the administration aspects in fact is not that difficult, and for a reasonable cost too, so after removing that drudgery it really only leaves the marketing side of a computer repair business that is the essential difference between success and failure. And for every industry I have had a business in, there has always been an industry association or other type of meeting place where you can meet other people with the same interests can meet to swap ideas on how to be the best we can be and for new and innovative ways to finds customers, social networking and even using resources like Facebook.

A friend of mine recently started his computer repair business and we were discussing this exact point, and with Google being our friend, we started searching for such a meeting place used by other computer repair business people for that exact purpose - of talking about success methods and the marketing side of businesses. Sure enough we did find the ideal web-site and because the members are from diverse geographic areas, none of them are directly competing for the same customers and so people were very open, helpful and willing to share their ideas that had succeeded so far for them. The link to that web-site is in my resource box if you are interested.

Local Service Business Online Promotion

By Neil Harland

Search Engine Optimization

The first topic I will discuss is Search Engine Optimization. This involves tweaking your website and performing backlinking activities, as well as providing good quality content for your visitors. You already have some content on your main site, and this is sufficient for getting started. Also you can use some free WordPress plugins can be used to tweak your site without any complicated computer code.

So what you want to start doing is getting as many good backlinks to your site as possible. This involves contacting or registering with as many top ranked, high traffic sites and forums and linking back to your site. This improves search engine positions - you want to be in the top ten page of a Google unless you'll not get much business this way.

You should only get a maximum of three backlinks a day, otherwise Google will flare you up as a spammer and ban your site. Also be cautious with people offering you packages where you get 4000 backlinks in a week. This will destroy your ranking, as Google's algorithms are quite smart these days and you'll be snared right away.

Keyword Research

Before you begin generating backlinks to your site, you must find out which keywords to target, so the search engine users get specifically what they want (content relevance). The tool I use is the Google keyword suggestion tool

What you want to look for here is high traffic keywords with local monthly searches. So choose around ten of the keywords you think are most relevant to your services.

Now for each backlink title, you must include a title with your main keyword (law, lawyer, etc) and one secondary keyword phrase, for example:

LisaWong Law - Top San Diego Criminal Law Experts

Now for each of your ten chosen keywords, create titles like those above and save in a text file. Also, you'll need a 25 - 30 word description, and around three or four of those too. Reason for this is because Google will detect duplicate content and the backlink will not count.

Submitting to Directories

Online directory sites are a bit like the Yellow Pages online, and most are free. You need to visit each site, register and post your title and description you've just made up. Now some of the directory sites are manually reviewed by humans, and can take a couple of months for your link to be made public, and for this reason I do this first. It can be a bit tedious doing this, but the links are well worth it. I use a free software for this, and it speeds things up a little.

Remember to rotate your titles and descriptions here.

Social Bookmarking

When someone visits your site and likes your blog post or article, they can bookmark it, vote on it and share it with others. However, you can do this yourself and get the links back to your site. So you'll need to register for the following sites, and place your links to your site. Here are the top social bookmarking sites I use:

Slashdot.org

Digg.com

Del.icio.us

Reddit.com

Fark.com

Newsvine.com

Connotea.org

Links Marker

Blinklist.com

Bibsonomy.org

Folkd.com

Linkagogo.com

Buddy Marks

Karmalynx.com

bookmarksdiary.com

Article Marketing

Another great free way to get backlinks and traffic to your site. You write about three or so articles, each one based on a keyword phrase, and should not include that keyword phrase no more than 3 times in the article body, and just once in the article title. It should be 400 - 600 words long, and must not contain any promotional text or links out.

So for promoting your site using articles, you have a bio box at the bottom. Here you place a little classified ad and your backlink to your site. The important thing here is to have the link include the main keyword of the page you are linking to.

Then you must submit your article to the top five or so article directories.

Press Releases

Similar to article marketing, only it must be newsworthy and something new. For example, you've just opened up a new law firm in San Diego, so a press release to a local newspaper could bring some welcome business.

Blogs

Another free way to drive traffic. WordPress is the best one, but you could use Blogger.com or hubpages.com. I will refer to WordPress here.

Now, take the articles you created earlier for the article directories, and re-write them. These should be used for blog content. Or even write a few new ones based on your keywords. Now using WordPress, you can schedule your posts to go live on the times/dates of your choice. I suggest you set your posts to go live between 4 - 7 days apart, as the search engines like new content. Don't go and post five articles at once.

WordPress Plugins

WordPress blogs make it easy to set up your own site without writing a single line of computer code. However, there are hundreds of plugins and it can be hard to know which to use and which are best suited to your website. Here is a brief description of the ones I use most:

WP Policies

This one installs all the necessary legal documents every website should have. It hides these from website visitors because no-one hardly reads them but the search engines acknowledge them. Includes privacy policy, anti-spam policy, disclaimer, email policy, terms of use, earnings disclaimer and more. These can be tailored to the needs of each individual site.

Google Analytics for WordPress

Used for tracking site visitors, which pages they visit, length of time on the page, where they came from - Google, other sites etc, and displays graphs and charts on monthly statistics.

Quick AdSense

This makes it easy to add Google adverts on your blog posts and pages. You simply sign up for a free AdSense account with Google, copy and paste some code into the plugin, and you make money when visitors click on the ads. Good for a little extra income from your site.

Socializer

This plugin will place a row of little Facebook, Twitter, Digg icons at the top of your blog pages and posts, and when clicked on, the user can tweet or share the link to your posts on the social networks.

No blog should be without this one, as Facebook and the like are widely used nowadays, with ten percent of the world's population using them.

That sums up this report on promoting a local business online on a tight budget. There are many other ways you can promote online, but the can be costly and most people get their fingers burnt and lose their whole marketing budget quickly. Google AdWords being one of them. It's just so competitive and hard to succeed on a limited budget. And the big boys with deep pockets will just eat you up.

Getting Access To Prospect Lists From Email Campaigns

By Charlotte Linton

A business cannot thrive and succeed without clients. A growing company is always striving to gain new customers. A method to add viable prospects for your business is through employing email marketing campaigns and an Internet marketing survey.

Some may ask, "What is the simplest means of gaining and building a prospect list to distribute an Internet Marketing Survey?" This might be a survey which is accessible from your company website. Clients interested in buying or gaining more information regarding your goods or services will complete the internet marketing survey. Data usually gathered through such surveys incorporate customer's name, address, email address, telephone number, income level, products or services they are interested in, along with the means by which they will make these purchases.

Once you have gathered such surveys, you have a viable prospect list. You can vigorously work on these leads. Contact each one through phone, letters, or through an email campaign. These are not just random leads or cold calling. They are people who are keen on your products and services and who really took the time to visit online and complete a survey. This is often valuable lead information that few companies pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to obtain. You have received your information for free through an internet marketing survey and make sure you utilize the knowledge gathered wisely.

The other way of gaining prospect lists is by the utilization of email campaigns. You can purchase lead lists for your business from various corporations who provide these services. Once you have your lead list, build an email that will notify prospective customers of the products and services you offer along with data on contacting you and making a purchase. Check the track record of the company you are purchasing leads from. Are they reputable? Typically, you get what you pay for. Probabilities are, if the list is very cheap, it will contain outdated data such as incorrect physical and mailing addresses, incorrect email addresses, and disconnected phone numbers.

They are not simply random prospects or cold calling. They are people who are interested in your products and services and who actually took the time to visit online and complete a survey. This can be valuable lead information that some companies pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to obtain. You have received your information freely through an internet marketing survey and be sure you use the data gathered wisely.

The other way of gaining prospect lists is through the use of email campaigns. You can buy lead lists for your industry from numerous corporations who offer such services. When you have got your lead list, construct an email that will inform prospective clients of the merchandise and services you provide along with data about contacting you and making a purchase. Check the track record of the corporate you are buying leads from. Are they reputable? Often, you get what you pay for.

Then there is always the old school cold calling method. As distasteful as it could seem, it can be as efficient as an Internet marketing survey in building a prospect list. Do a little analysis before you grab the phone book and begin dialing numbers. A great way to obtain prospects for cold calling is by the referrals of your existing clients. Ask them often who they know that might be interested in buying your merchandise or services. If your existing clients allow you to use their name during the phone call, it would be a perfect method to begin the conversation.

Advertising Local Businesses - 5 Reasons Why Internet Marketing Is Important

By David W Warren

In today's increasingly fast-paced and digital world, it is crucially important for local businesses - and not only large trans-national corporations - to market themselves online. While worldwide in scope, marketing on the Internet will actually become a significant aid for small local businesses. Marketing of any type is always important but here are five reasons why online marketing should be at the forefront of your plans:

1. Visibility. As we all probably know, everything is done online these days. From renting and watching films, buying home furnishings, and even ordering groceries, the Internet is increasingly impacting our everyday lives. Recognizing this, it becomes extremely beneficial for local businesses to market themselves on this continuously expanding web of information if for no other reason than to simply make the business more visible to a larger population.

2. Customer Communication. Social media presents a particularly useful way to communicate with potential and returning customers. Keeping people updated on changes to your business, spreading the word about upcoming promotions or events, and simply describing the goods or services your business provides are all important ways to reach out to those who may become customers in the future, or those you wish to retain.

3. Keeping up with Competition. Because people can access, purchase, and order a diverse variety of goods and services online, utilizing the Internet as a marketing platform is critical for local businesses to maintain a competitive edge, whether it be against other local businesses or larger online vendors and corporations.

4. Utilizing Keyword Searches. Learning how to optimize the language of your company's website will place your information at the top of a search engine's list of results, thereby directing traffic to your business. When businesses effectively strategize their online marketing campaigns, a larger stream of potential clients and customers will learn about their company and their services, ultimately increasing the likelihood of earning new customers.

5. Legitimize Yourself. By asserting and maintaining an online presence, businesses prove to potential and returning customers that they are active, dynamic companies continuously working to improve, expand, and become better. As smart phones become increasingly popular, consider designing a simple downloadable app that will keep your business at the fore of peoples' minds. The Internet allows local businesses to legitimize themselves as exciting and successful companies worthy of earning and retaining a large customer base.

In Conclusion

While the World Wide Web is truly global in its reach, it is a rich resource for businesses and companies of all types and sizes. Local businesses will benefit greatly from online marketing as they will become better able to compete in a digital world, reach out to customers both new and returning, and legitimize themselves to a large base of potential clients. Whether your business is situated in a city, town or village, marketing is always important. Local presence online and offline can the main advantage.

Security on the Web is Good for Business

By Oliver Macpherson

Personal data transfers can range from credit card numbers to talking on cell phones. Customers and online businesses benefit when a website uses encryption technology to protect their customers and themselves. The owner has to keep the trust of old customers and prove trustworthy to new ones. While customers need a standard to judge how well protected they are against identity theft. Most SSL certificates can provide quick and easy way to advertise the safety of the web business.

A secure socket layer is encryption technology used to secure email, credit card payments and other data transfers between computers. Different companies provide the SSL technology along with SSL certification to website owners. The most basic SSL certificates provide information that encryption technology is being used. They do guarantee that an outside source has less of a chance of accessing the information being shared. They do not tell the customer if the company behind the website even exists. The consumer can see the basic lock by the address when looking at the website.

The extended validation or EV SSL certificate tells the customer that the company behind the website had to go through a type of inspection process for verification. The address area and the lock will be highlighted green. The company's reputation still only comes with people's experience with the product. Extended validation SSL certificate does guarantee the company exists. New customers will not have to guess about the authenticity of the web site and are more likely to shop there when they see the green address area and lock.

Why all websites that trade on the web should have online security? Security is necessary for the safety of product, customers and staff. Keeping the business and customers safe is as important to an online business as it is to an actual street business. People see the lock by the address box; they know they are far more protected against identity theft than if that lock was not there. For business, the biggest reason to use SSL certificates is to bring business to their web site and have happy customers.

SEO Do It Yourself or Outsource.

By John A J Stewart

SEO or search engine optimization is a lot like dating. You try to make yourself as attractive as possible and also appear as intelligent and interesting as you can. You only get one shot at a first impression so don\'t blow it. Just the same with your webpage. SEO is best done on your own because you have full control of your site content and marketing and you do not have to spend a single cent. There are many free methods that happen to be very effective if you continuously rely on them. However, there are also a lot of individuals and companies that offer SEO outsourcing which may seem like an attractive choice. Actually, SEO outsourcing may help you a lot depending on your current situation. If all of the conditions in this checklist are true, SEO outsourcing may be your best bet.

Lack of Knowledge

If you have absolutely no idea what SEO is or how important it is, going for SEO outsourcing is the easiest way out if you have the budget. Of course, the only alternative would be to learn SEO yourself but if you really need to spend more time doing other things with your site, it is better to outsource the tedious task. After all, if you really take your time in finding SEO outsourcing leads, you should end up with quality SEO professionals that can get the job done nicely.

Lack of Time

SEO is pretty easy to get into if you have the time to learn and find all of the wonderful free resources available. But even if you get past that phase, you still have to commit yourself in setting aside time so you can execute the different techniques. It is indeed important to focus on SEO so you can better compete with more popular sites in the niche. However, you may need to focus on other areas of your site too such as the design, the content, and other marketing avenues. There is also a possibility where you may not have time in tending to your website because of other activities. SEO outsourcing is a great way to lessen your load without neglecting your site.

Poor Long-Term Search Results

Working on SEO techniques is only half the battle. On the other end, you have the search engine bots ranking your page and the competition doing site optimizations of their own. If your strong efforts don\'t really bear much fruit, SEO outsourcing can be a viable option for fixing these problems. SEO outsourcing should only be considered after your SEO performance doesn’t\'t improve for the next couple of months.

Tight Budget

Many of the more effective marketing methods are things that you have to pay for and every costly marketing approach has its risks. Fortunately, people that offer SEO outsourcing tend to charge less than other paid marketing methods. Remember that this is SEO that you are investing in and full optimization will always be worth it no matter what price you pay. In fact, you can reach a comfortable level if you pay for SEO outsourcing while you spend your free time in executing marketing techniques that you are better skilled in.

Even if some of the items are checked in your list, you should still consider evaluating SEO outsourcing. Find some SEO outsourcing services and examine the features so you can make a final decision on whether or not the outsourcing is worth your budget.

Who knows you may just get the site of your dreams and live happily ever after.

Wordtracker Review: The Grandfather Of The Keyword Research Tools

By: Stu Bowes

Wordtracker is a keyword search tool created by Fathom SEO of Great Britain and is considered to be the grandfather of the keyword tools and its still a leading tool for internet marketers today. They have added quite a few tools and functions over the years to keep Wordtracker near the top of its niche. There are quite a few new competitors that have emerged recently, but WordTracker still provides some of the best keywords suggestions for search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising not to mention affiliate marketing.

Wordtracker still has the largest market share in the industry, but it has received both positive and negative reviews from internet marketers. One of the main reasons for this is that Wordtracker combines keywords searches from a variety of different search engines including: Google, Yahoo, Bing, Dog Pile and others. Consequently the Wordtracker findings have different results than some of the other keyword tools that only access the Google Keyword Tool results. It is not inexpensive at $69 month or annually for $379.

The Wordtracker interface is not the flashiest, but still quite functional. It just a top notch keyword tool. The entire system does offer other features, like the Link Builder and Strategizer, but these are separate packages that cost more. These additional features can be combined when you need added functionality. The features that really sets this service apart from the others is the way it displays keyword and keyword phrase search volume in one column and then its related competition in the column next to it. As an example, if you are trying to optimize a web page to target the keyword "affiliate marketing" you can immediately see that this term has way too much competition and you're chances of achieving high page ranking will be extremely difficult.

Wordtracker has a function key called the keyword effectiveness index (KEI) and when you hit that key, all of the keyword phrases and long-tail keyword phrase with little or no competition will be highlighted. This function will literally show you common search terms that people type in to search engines, but few website owners are aware of and, as a result, aren't optimizing their website or pages for. It's really a pretty awesome feature. Using the example above, this KEI function will literally help you identify keyword phrases with the term "affiliate marketing" included, but where there is little or no competition. So if you optimize your website using these more obscure, but not uncommon keyword phrases, then your chances of being on page one of Google are much easier.

The folks at Fathom SEO have a very good product and they combine it with a continuing series of online tutorials and tele-seminars to assist you in SEO. Additional training materials include case studies and a keyword guide. All of these tutorials walk you through the entire process of finding the phrases with the greatest potential for your website.

As I mentioned earlier, Wordtracker has monthly and annual subscriptions that can be more expensive compared to its competitors, but their search result are also quite unique. It is a web based application so is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. They offer a free 7 day trial membership so you can preview their system to see for yourself.

How To Understand the Search Engines and SEO

By John Gray

The early days of the net were rather easy for site owners as putting a website on-line would take various months as it was very heavy work to build a site. In order to access the website a visitor simply had to type in the website address, or click a link that was included on a related site. Nowadays  that is moderately unimaginable, simply because of the fact that there are countless millions, if not billions of websites available on-line. To find out how many sites are on the web would be impossible as every day thousands are took down and every day thousands of new-found ones appear.

hile this is excellent news for people reading sites, it becomes a riddle for website owners and publishers. After all of the energy, time and expense planning an on-line business, designing a website and uploading it to the WWW, it can be a disappointing thought to think that site is merely a single drop in a sea so large that it would be impossible to count the number of other drops.

The search engines are an essential part of cyberspace technology. There is simply too much information and too many websites for any one individual to have any hope of locating information which is relevant and useful. There are many search engines available to use but most people use Google, yahoo and MSN.

But the question is still there, in that how do the search engines decide which sites to put at the front of search results and which sites should be kept at the back? When search engines were first introduced, they were little more than a directory. Much like the yellow pages used to be. Folks would then head to the section and find a site that they wanted. This meant a lot of work for the search engines which had to manually approve every site.

Today's search engines rely upon enormously complex formulas known as algorithms. These algorithms are able to analyse the structure and content of websites and are able to identify the subjects, the keywords, and the likely relevance of that website as far as its subject matter is concerned. Additionally, these algorithms take into account the popularity of each website.

The reason that popularity is considered to be so important is because it works a little like a voting system. The more people who visit a website, the more likely it is that that website is considered to be useful and relevant. In the same way, the more websites which link to this website, the more likely it is that it can be considered to be a reliable and trustworthy source of information.

Knowing the regular ways in which the search engines dissect the content, context and popularity of websites, owners and publishers of websites are of course very keen to guarantee that they maximise the chances of their site being considered important and helpful by a search engine. Achieving this is likely to guarantee the website appears near the top of the search engines results pages, creating a higher chance of supplementary visitors and potential customers seeing it.

This is what is known as search engine optimization or SEO. Search engine optimization is the engagement of methods and tactics which are likely to ensure the site not only comes to the attention of the search engines, but achieves a high ranking positioning as well. Clear-cut SEO is likely to mean further customers, and is therefore an chief part of making any online business successful.

Why The Best Automated SEO Tools Are Only As Good As Your Keywords

By Jay Allyson

The best automated SEO tools are really only useful if you have good keywords in the first place. This article explains why and outlines the main critical factors for search engine optimization for your web pages and blog posts.

Keywords are what get you listed in search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo. The best automated SEO tools are based on keyword optimization. However, it's not always clear to internet marketers what factors are truly critical for ranking highest in the search results.

With so many different opinions and guides, and Google and others changing their algorithms, it's a tough call knowing what to do. Keyword optimization based on the latest rules is what the best automated SEO tool will help you with.

Keyword optimization is the way to make your 'on-page' criteria rock!

The more you do, the more you are likely to push your page up high on the search results. Doing it manually can be really tedious. You need to automate the job.

The best automated SEO tools I've come across provide you with prompts for optimizing your web pages and blog posts.

Start with identifying the killer keywords. You can get your keywords from Google's own searches using Google Suggest, which is now built into the way the search engine works. If you start typing your search string into Google, something relating to your niche, Google will start giving you some suggestions.

Pay close attention to these keyword suggestions, because these are the most frequent or most current searches that people are actually doing. There are plenty of keyword tools around and I recommend you layer your keyword research, starting with some broad niche terms and drilling down.

Critical 'on-page' factors to optimize

It's nuts that almost 90% of the websites on the Internet overlook these simple yet critical factors. Get these right on your pages and you'll be rocking and rolling in the top 10%, possibly even killing those top spots for some fairly competitive keywords.

Put your keyword in your domain name. This is mandatory.

Put your keyword in your titles. If possible, try to wedge in your keyword in every subheading you use as well, provided they are not too many. Specifically, use your keyword in all the H1, H2 and H3 tags that you use.

Your keyword must figure somewhere in the first sentence of the article.

Your keyword must figure somewhere in the last sentence of the article.

Put your keyword as the anchor text in at least one outbound link to a page within your website.

Use at least one outbound link to an external page, i.e. a page out of your website, which is trustable.

Use your keyword to a density of 1 to 3% through the webpage in a way that doesn't compromise the 'human' visitor. More than 4% is keyword-stuffing. It makes crazy reading and is a sure fire way to get your website blacklisted by Google.

Sometimes you can't stuff all of these into your blog post or article or web page... it would just come out ridiculous. So there is an element of common sense and compromise involved!

Do a search on 'best automated SEO tools' and see where this article post ranks. It will change day on day, week on week, month on month, year on year as back links gather strength as well.

The Best Automated SEO Tools prompt you to Optimize

The best automated SEO tools takes care of all these factors, by telling you exactly where you're at with optimizing this list, plus a whole host of further factors prompted or done automatically.

When installed, the best automated SEO tools should prompt you to take care of the top criteria, e.g. those listed above. This way you make sure you are dotting all your 'i's and cross all your 't's where Search Engine Optimization is concerned.

After a while, like all good habits, you start doing this as a matter of course, and your SEOPressor Score will be right first time! Even the best automated SEO tool cannot do the job completely for you, but this goes a long way to total optimization and ranking #1 on Google.

How To Use Your Autoresponders for The Best Email Marketing Results

By Cassi Trear

All online marketers and businesses with any type of clue understand that an email list is one of the huge keys to success. It should also be known to you, unless you are brand new, that the tool of choice with your email list is the autoresponder. In the following article we shall be looking into a few simple and effective tips that will help you get the most out of your email marketing with the use of an autoresponder.

How often should you send out autoresponder messages is an often asked question, and part of the answer lies with your target market. One of the dangers of sending out autoresponder emails too much is people will ignore you if not unsubscribe. Your aim should be to stay at the top of their minds. The best way to build trust is by giving them something that will help solve their problems, or help them do something that matters to them. The only way to create the way you want people to see you is by showing them you have those qualities. There is a lot you can do, but for one thing you should try to get feedback from them as much as possible. One important clue will be your market and who they are, then proceed according to your best conclusions from that. You can get better responses from people when you talk to them using their first name, so be sure to do that and test your results. If your subscribers are on a lot of lists, then when they see their names in the subject line that will tend to get their attention. There is something about a person's name, which is special. Personalization is a powerful thing to add to your autoresponder features, so be sure to do it and watch what happens.

The best approach to email copy format is to make it scannable - so people can take it all in very quickly. You simply have to nail this part or your emails will never be read - ever.

Just remember how you like to read your emails, and you probably scan too. So many people have a hard time with their email marketing, and it can be tough to troubleshoot as to why. You will also benefit from making sure you have a lot of white space in your emails. You can actually go through tutorials at the better autoresponder service providers.

An autoresponder service will really become your best friend and ally in your email marketing campaigns. Be sure you read and learn as many email marketing and autoresponder tips as you possibly can and implement them. When you engage in email marketing, you will be able to retain customers and do business for a long time. And using an autoresponder becomes easy to tap into your customer base and actually bring this value out.

Building a Small Business Website for Your Specific Customers

By Kristi Stangeland

Have you ever been to a website that made you feel as if you were an outsider looking in?  The images, the design elements and even the copy were all about the company. It wasn't welcoming or inviting and it didn't help you see how these particular products and/or services could help you.  Those are sites I refer to as "company-oriented."

Then there are the web pages you click to that seem to read your mind.  The navigation makes sense to you, the layout is clean and the text speaks your language.  These are "customer-oriented" websites and their tendency to outperform company-focused sites is tremendous.

Truthfully, every organization should have a customer-oriented website.  But most don't give the client much thought.  Chalk it up to lack of experience or bad advice from others.  Once you understand a few basics, developing a website that attracts and converts people specific to your target audience is easier than you might think.

It's All About Them… It's Not All About You

This is a tough fact for many people to swallow.  Hard as they try, they can't get past the fact that their website should be all about them.  And right there you see where this line of thinking originates.  It's not really "their" website.

You build a website FOR your customers, not ABOUT your company.

Think of it this way: pretend you want to buy a gift for your cousin's birthday.  He's an avid reader so you believe a book would be the perfect gift.  Do you browse the titles looking for something that catches *your* eye… something intriguing to *you* or do you scan the list in search of a book about his favorite hobbies and interests?  Of course, it's all about him.  This same mentality applies to building a small business website.

Change Your Shoes & Get a New Perspective

Step back from your normal viewpoint.  Hang up your company hat and put yourself in your customer's shoes.  These are folks that don't travel the back roads of your industry.  They aren't familiar with the jargon, the latest technology or the structure or your business.  Neither should they be.  So why confuse your site visitors with language, images, navigation and other design elements that are foreign to them?

Instead, approach the new design or redesign of your website from your customer's point of view.  Ask existing clients what language they might use to describe some of the products, services or processes your company offers.  Get their feedback on which order web pages should be provided and what they feel is a logical way to approach the delivery of information.

If your company deals primarily with women (perhaps a daycare center or a ladies-only gym) choose pictures and colors appropriate to that audience.  Most parents wouldn't feel comfortable with a daycare site draped in dark colors, accented with vibrant orange and flashy graphics.  Even if those are your favorite colors, they might cost you some business by making your target market wary.

It's all about them.  It's not about you.

The bottom line when you build a small business website for your specific customers is this: With every decision, with every choice, ask the question, "How will this benefit my target customers?"  If the answer is, "It won't," choose something else.

XSitePro 2 User Review

by Brian Boboyd

XSitePro Version 2 from Intellimon is the latest release of an extremely powerful, yet straightforward software package that is used in website creation, website management, search engine optimisation and website marketing. The software has been designed and developed so that it is easily used by a broad range of users, ranging from an absolute beginner, to an experienced Hyper-Text Mark Up Language (HTML) coding professional. A key strength of XSitePro 2 is it can achieve all its rather complex features in a quick and simple manner.  My personal experience of website design packages had previously been almost exclusively Dreamweaver. Therefore I was comfortable with website creation. Admittedly, I was a little sceptical at first when reviewing my discounted version of XSitePro and the claims of the XSitePro developers and users.

I have to say from the outset, that from the moment I loaded XSitePro onto my computer, I was astounded at how amazingly simple that the program truly was. It not only lived up to the many claims of its developer, but it truly surpassed those same claims.  Even though XSitePro is simple, you will be in awe of its power, particular the handy built in tools and wizards that help with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).  This part of the program alone is well worth thousands of dollars to any wannabe web marketer, yet here was XSitePro, bundling it into the basic package for no additional expense.  XSitePro has been well designed and will guide a user through simple step by step procedures in how to design, create, publish and market websites that are Search Engine friendly.  Another great feature, is the relatively simple manner in switching between HTML coding or using the What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor - it doesn't interrupt workflow at all.

XSitePro comes with an extensive range of built in templates that are suitable for a wide variety of uses, from a simple small business splash page, all the way through to a searchable website that contains tens of thousands of pages. The standard templates, even with the XSitePro discount version are all easily editable and if the hundreds of templates don't satisfy your tastes, there are a multitude of sites that make professionally designed templates available download for the XSitePro users.

As is the case with all new software, it invariably takes a little time to get comfortable and familiar with the layout and navigation of the design screens. After a few initial teething problems (I would estimate no more than an hour to truly get going), work flows with ease.

XSitePro will give you a distinct edge over many website publishing software packages that are available on the market. Something as traditionally time consuming and tedious as when you need to work with affiliate programs or programs such as Adsense, or Ebay, becomes a very simple and quick exercise.  XSitePro achieves this by using a variety of different pre-programmed scripts and "widgets" that give the user the best and most effective layout possible to monetize your website. XSitePro also gives you an insiders' look into the world of internet marketing if you are a relative newbie. XSitePro is an excellent tool that is capable of growing with you as your website empire grows.

The strength of the software is it's relatively cheap price (available for under $200 if you can find an XSitePro Discount), comprehensive and clear manuals and an extensive user community that seems more than happy to provide useful tips to get the most out of XSitePro. If you are searching for a website creation package, take a look at XSitePro, you won't be disappointed. The team at XSitePro have been extremely helpful with any queries or issues that were raised and answered all questions in a courteous and extremely prompt manner.  This is an excellent software package, backed by an excellent company.

Domain registration the easy way

by Dee Buteland

If you need to get a domain name for a new business or a personal site, or to reserve your own given name as a dot com, the process is very simple.

Right at the start, decide on the name you want. Most of the majority of the domain registration services, like GoDaddy.com , have various tools which will help you. You type in any name, and they will tell you if the domain name is taken already or not. If it is still free, you can get it for yourself.  If it is already registered by someone else, then the registration service will offer you different versions of the name to consider, or you could think about using other suffixes, such as .biz or .org.

Though .com domains are still the most well-recognized, the number of visitors you will get to your new internet domain will be due to your web promotion work and will have very little to do with the domain suffix, so don't be to worried if you don't get the .com suffix of the name you want.

Assuming you have thought of the internet domain name you want, and it is not already registered by somebody else, what exactly do you do now?

Going to a domain site like GoDaddy.com, and having completed the search for a name and confirmed that it is free, you will be able to click on a 'Buy Name Now' button or a similar option.

Next you will choose the number of years you want to make the registration last – from 1 to 10 years. If you have long term plans for the web site, or want it as an possible investment, go for a higher figure.  If the domain name is just for resale, choose a shorter period.

Next, you  have to give things like your name and email contact details. If the domain is for a company, you can also enter the company name. This information is used for the official domain name registration process – the domain is recorded as belonging to you, for the period you have registered it for. Officially, you become the 'registrant' of the name, and no-one else can own it.

For the next step, you can choose if your registration is to be public, or protected (or 'private').  A public registration will mean that anyone using the Whois lookup service can in future investigate the domain name and see your name and details. While planning the website you are going to put online, you may consider paying the small amount extra for a protected registration which hides your details will be a good idea to avoid spam or other unwanted contact.

Having made your selection, you can enter your credit card or Paypal details, pay the fee, and the domain becomes your own, for the period you have selected.  The best registration services like Godaddy will tell you, using the email address you registered with, when the time comes to update or renew registration of the domain.

You really can register a new domain as easily as that!

Want to register your new domain, or just check if the name you want is still unregistered? Click here - domain name registration  - where we tell you more. Good luck!

XSitePro's Best Technical Features

by James Schramko

The recently released XSitePro2 saw the unleashing of a myriad of powerful features revealed by its developers.

There are not only many features designed to help users when creating their web sites, but as well there is a host of new technical features that, although possibly not immediately obvious to most users, are working in the background tomake sure that your experience is streamlined.

Just Like a Word Processor Computer users have been working with word processors for years.  The most successful examples of these programs are characterized by their ease of use and very small learning curve.

The creators of X Site Pro have adapted many of the techniques employed by these popular word processors into their design for this powerful new website design software.

By far the most helpful of these features is the What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) method of web page design, a feature that ensures that what you see in XSite Pro while you're designing your website is exactly what your visitors will see when they access your web page.

Safeguarding Your Work Even with a program as streamlined and easy to use as this, building a website requires a sizable investment of time.  XSitePro allows you to create in around 60 minutes what other website building programs take 4 hours to build.  But that hour is an investment that you don't want to lose.

So, with that in mind, the developers of this software created Backup and Restore features.  The majority of Backup and Restore tools require a great deal of disk space.  The reason for this is that in order to be sure that all of your work is saved, all of the files must be duplicated and kept.

XSitePro utilizes a cutting edge single-file backup procedure that not only saves every part of your website, but also saves that information on a much smaller amount of hard drive space.

And, as an added bonus, it has a built in reminder feature that will make sure your backups are completely up to date at all times.

Other Handy Tools Along with the features outlined above, X Site Pro also comes equipped with powerful Global Settings.  By using these features you can set up the software to work exactly the way that you want it to.

These settings include:

*Page Title Settings

*File Naming Settings

*Home Page Settings

*Folder Settings

*Spell Checker Settings

*Page Analysis Settings

*Scheduler Settings

And there's lots more to discover.

You've heard all the hype, now its time to get the facts on just why XSitePro's features are setting the standard for website building software.

Some Tips For Effective Website Design

by James Copper

Believe it or not, the effectiveness of website design has much more to do with usability than it does with the design itself.  Many beautifully designed websites have gone by the wayside over the years because their creators failed to make the sites user - friendly, while easy-to-use sites, despite the way these sites may look, have continued to thrive and why?

It's simple really.  The internet has literally brought the entire world into people's living rooms, with millions upon millions of searchable web pages on almost any subject you could possibly dream of.  And with all that competition for traffic and readership, it only stands to reason that users can be very selective about which sites they elect to visit - and return to - and which ones they decide to skip right over.

Effective website design is as much about marketing as it is about design and programming.  Most users decide within seconds whether they will remain on a given webpage or not, and unless the website design is geared to immediately hold the user's attention, chances are they will just move on to the next site.

To be successful in the field of website design, understanding the following facts about users' web habits is critical:

- Quality and credibility matters.  Research has proven that those sites which consistently produce quality content in a credible, professional looking format are more apt to hold the user's attention and have a much better chance of attracting repeat visitors.

- Users are impatient.  Effective website design needs to take for granted the fact that users, for the most part anyway, are extremely impatient.  They expect immediate gratification and if the design is too cluttered or complicated to facilitate this need they will probably just move on.

- Users scan rather than read.  Because most website visitors scan for the information they need rather than read, a website design that focuses on this behavior pattern - that understands website heat maps and other structural patterns, for example - will generally be much more effective.

Website design can be an amazing field with tremendous growth potential, but success in the website design field is dependent on much more than just the ability to program.  Those individuals who can design effective, results-driven sites, which take into account the general user patterns of the average visitor, will have a decided edge over their fellow designers.

Website Promotion using Directory Links

by Pete Nisbet

Website promotion in order to get high search engine listings, and directory links are one of the best ways of doing that.  By listing your website in a link directory or submitting articles to an article directory you achieve two things:

a)  If your website is relatively new, you get the benefit of rapid search engine visits and consequent indexing and listings. Without website promotion, or some means of letting Google, for example, know that your website exists, you may wait a long time before it indexes your web pages. However, because an article or link directory is visited frequently by search engines, directory links will lead them straight to your web pages.

b)  Unless the link directory or article directory uses the 'nofollow' attribute you will get a share of the Google PageRank of the web page on which your website or article is published. Some directories use the 'nofollow' attribute that prevents you getting that PR share, so avoid these if you can, although many offer the straight link for a fee. That is generally worth paying for.

Another reason for website promotion using directory links from a website or an article directory is that visitors to such directories will click on your link. In the case of a link directory, the link will be the website listing itself, and for an article, the link is contained in a section known as the 'author's resource', generally found at the end of the article.

Writing articles is a particularly useful way of website promotion because you use anchor text for your links, regarded by Google as offering a better way of optimizing the article than just a straight URL. The anchor text should relate either to the theme of the article or of the web page you are promoting.

While website directories generally publish the URL of your domain, an article can be published in an article directory with the URL of any page in your website you want to promote. It is deep links such as these that can make a real difference to the prominence of your website on search engine listings.

How do you promote your website with directory links?  What are the mechanics? The procedure is really quite simple, and we shall discuss it here, first with link directories and then with article directories.

Website Promotion using Link Directories

When you register with a link directory, you will be asked to generate a user name and password.  That will then generally be followed up with an email containing a confirmation link that you must click to confirm your registration.  That is to prevent spambots from creating mass registrations with the directory.

Then you will be directed to the login page where you use the details you have provided to log in. You can then enter the details of your website. Each is different, and you may be asked for the website name or title, the URL and a description of what the site is about. That will be published with the site listing. Some might ask you for keywords that will enable your website to appear when people use these keywords in their search.

You then get a link from the directory to your website. That will help improve your PageRank and, additionally, Google and the other search engines will follow that link next time they visit the directory and your site will be spidered. Also, real people might read your description and decide to check out your site, so link directories can also generate traffic. Your description should be designed to impress the reader.

Website Promotion using Article Directories

An article directory is somewhat different. Here, you must first write an article that relates to the theme of your niche or website.  You will generally use the same procedure to join an article directory, though may not have to give details of your website.

You then enter your article into the boxes provided:  generally a box for the title, one for the article body and one for the resource.  The latter two may be combined in some directories. You will also have a box for a summary of the article that will appear in the article directory, and perhaps a list of keywords will be requested.

There are many benefits of article marketing as it is called - far too numerous to list here, but suffice it to say that it is a very powerful method of promoting your website. You receive traffic through people reading the article and then clicking on your link to learn more, from improved Google PageRank and also from others copying your article, complete with resource, to use as content on their own websites.

All in all, when carrying out your website promotion using directory links, you are using one of the most powerful and least expensive techniques available to you, and few are ever disappointed with the results. It takes little work, and although some directories offer free listings, others make a small charge which is well worth the expenditure for the return you get in website promotion.

GoDaddy's Review

by tom laak

I am very happy to review GoDaddy 's services, they are my number one choice for hosting!

About GoDaddy:

You probably have already heard of GoDaddy because it is the number one domain name registrar and hosting company. They are also very famous for their provocative, sexual ads displayed on the Super Bowl each year.  GoDaddy has once again pushed the limits with its 2010 commercials, featuring spokeswoman Danica Patrick.  They always find a way to create commercial that get people's attention.

Founded by Bob Parsons in 1997, Go Daddy is an Internet domain registrar and web hosting company that also sells e-business related software and services.

GoDaddy has become the world's #1 choice for domains by providing innovative, competitively-priced products, delivering the highest quality customer service, and by always appreciating and listening to its customers!

Rating:

Customer support: Excellent 9.5 (out of 10)

They have a world-class 24/7 live customer service, their technical support fixes take a very short time.  Go Daddy has a variety of help and support options available, and they’re accessible all of the time.  Go Daddy service representatives can also be contacted on the phone or through email.  Their technical support staff have excellent technical expertise.

Price: Excellent 9.8 (out of 10)

GoDaddy's prices cannot be beat, are you wondering how they can charge as much as 70% less than our competition and still be in business, right?

First of all they choose their promotions carefully and ensure every advertising dollar pays for itself.

Second, the Company owns and operates its own services and equipment, which enables it to keep prices low and quality high.

Reliability: 9.9 (out of 10)

GoDaddy is famous for its 99.9% network uptime commitment, no matter which hosting type or plan you choose, your site receives 24/7 maintenance and protection in their world-class data center.

Because they are such a big company they can afford to provide their customers with the latest server technology, which allows their servers to run at maximum speed.

My personal experience:

I have been a loyal customers for 5 years now… initially it was because of the cheap price. All my websites are hosted by them and would never use anyone else. I have never had any problems with downtime, their 99.9% uptime guarantee means my site is always going to be live without interruption.

Their customer support always has been excellent, they are very helpful when calling with questions, and have 24 hour support. The waiting time for calls isn't very long (2 -5 minutes). I challenge you to find an equally good support team elsewhere.

The only problems I have are the ones I create myself out of stupidity.

The verdict? I recommend GoDaddy to all my clients. It's the best service out there!

Weak points:

A thing that I don't like much is the control panel. It is a little bit confusing, it's just a pain finding what you want, but once you found what you want it works well enough.  The interface is  filled with GoDaddy ads and promos.  I have heard that their team are working to make it more user friendly, the new and improved version should be out in few months.

Summary:

If you want the fastest speed possible and want good customer service for an affordable price GoDaddy is your best bet. www.GoDaddy.com

Inexpensive Website Design Ideas

By William M Drapcho

They say you need a website these days to be taken seriously on the internet. There is no doubt a professional looking website establishes your credibility online for your home based business ideas website. But how can you get that done if you don't know anything about web design? There are plenty of alternatives and choices that will help you with a good looking website design.

It can cost you hundreds of dollars to have a custom built website designed by a professional designer these days. Depending on your needs, that may be the only choice you have. However, if you don't need all the bells and whistles, you have choices you can make that will give you a website design you can be proud of for your home based business ideas website. Here is a guide to making that choice:

First, look for local designers in your area by opening you phone book, doing a Google search or reading your newspaper. I found someone in my area that specialized in website design to design my blog. Make sure you shop around. Don't pay $500 for a website design from a large company. Try to find a local person that runs their business out of their home office. The won't have the overhead expenses that larger design companies would have, and would be more flexible to work with.

Choose freelancers for your home based business ideas website carefully by going to elance.com. You'll be able to post an outline of your project, and thousands of freelancers will have the opportunity to bid on it. That way, you should be able to get a great deal. You will also have the ability to chose that designer based on ratings, past projects, and experience which will give you your best bang for your buck when it's all said and done.

Be sure to check out GoDaddy.com. They offer a website design service you can do yourself called Website Tonight. You can chose from a simple template of 5 pages, all the way up to a template of 999 pages, hosted with GoDaddy.com. You would also be able to chose your domain name with them too. It's a 'one stop shopping' site for everything you would need.

You can also design your own home based business ideas website. It doesn't take much to learn the basics of website design. If all you need is 5 simple pages, go to the library or search online for the basics of designing a website. Look for programs like Microsoft Frontpage, or Macromedia Dreamweaver to help you out. Soon, you might have a side business to help others with a good website design.

How to Increase Sales Volume Significantly Through Local Online Advertising

by E. Welker

The success of any local business depends solely on sales volume. It’s been said in business time and time again that "volume fixes everything." And these days your advertising dollar is more important than ever. If your current marketing budget is not returning a high enough sales volume to churn out a decent profit, then it's time to make a change. The first question for most business owners is "where do I begin?"

Let's start with a few facts. Most local business owners have a limited budget, very little free time and extremely limited knowledge of how the Internet works. But they know for certain they should be advertising online within their local community. Many local business owners have already taken the plunge into the online community but are now scratching their heads trying to figure out why their website is not working as well as they thought it would. And that brings us back to the question of "where do I begin…"

The entire online advertising process begins with your website. Over 90% of the websites on the Internet today are not geared properly for success. These days it's very easy to find a web designer to create a nice looking website but, unfortunately, a nice looking website is only the tip of the iceberg. Your local business success depends on a lot more than just a pretty website. At the very least, your website should contain some sort of "call to action" as well as professionally written ad copy. Most web designers are not business oriented and therefore do not understand what a call to action is. Most web designers are also not professional copywriters.

If you are not properly educated on at least the basic fundamentals of how the Internet actually works, then it's going to be extremely difficult for you to shop around for a web designer that not only builds a great looking website with a call to action, but also has the ability to make sure your website is optimized for top performance on major search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. If your website is built on an old platform like HTML, then it's going to be nearly impossible for you to compete with other business owners in your local area who are using a more advanced platform like WordPress or Joomla.

A "platform" is simply the type of construction that was utilized to build your website. You could actually take two identical websites that looked exactly the same, and if one was built on an outdated HTML platform and the other one on a WordPress platform, they would perform very, very differently on the Internet. And even if you are using a platform like WordPress, there are still over 1 million plugins to sift through to make your site optimized for the search engines. In other words, a Web designer who is not skilled and proven in business and/or who does not understand the intimate details of Google and Yahoo's algorithms is not qualified to work for you, hence the reason why so many local business owners have websites that are costing them money month-after-month rather than bringing in additional revenues and a significantly higher sales volume.

If your local business already has a website and your website is not helping to attract more customers and increasing your sales volume significantly month after month, then unfortunately your web designer has very little knowledge of business and/or search engine optimization.

As a local business owner, your job is to save money every chance you get, but your website is something that you should not try to cut corners with. Your website, along with proper advertising, can be more effective than any form of off-line advertising you can possibly think of including the yellow pages, newspaper ads and even radio advertising. The world is changing rapidly, and so is the way that most consumers find products and services in their local marketplace. If you cannot be found, you are losing valuable sales volume that could mean the difference between profits and bankruptcy.

There are several techniques available to help you decide whether or not to utilize a particular advertising company to help you promote your local business online. The first thing you should do before choosing an online marketing agency is to look at their overall ranking. There is a Google owned website called Alexa.com that ranks tens of millions of websites on the Internet based on their quality, value and traffic. If you visit Alexa.com and type in the website address of the company you are contemplating using to build your website properly (both on the front end and the backend), they should have a good “Alexa ranking.” If they are not at least in the top 1.5 million and they have a copyright date on their website of more than one or two years, then look for someone else.

If you already have a website and you want to determine how well your site has been constructed by your web designer, simply visit websitegrader.com and type in your website address to see what kind of grade your website gets. If your website has a grade of lower than 75, then once again it's advisable that you have another, more qualified company redesign and/or reconstruct your website. Even if you like the look and feel of your website, it's possible to “migrate” your website to a better platform with the right plugins that will optimize your performance.

Erik Welker is the Founder of SteadyStreamOfCustomers.com, a company that specializes in WordPress migrations and Local Online Advertising.

4 Cool Ways To Attract People To Your Web Site

by Ivy Tan

In order to attract traffic to your website, you have to first ask yourself, what is in it for your visitor. There must be a pull factor - a bait on your website to attract traffic to visit your website.

Generally speaking, the bait must be something that people want. It must be something that people are looking for and it must be something interesting to them.

1. Provide free subscription to your e-zine or a free ebook
It is very common nowadays to give free e-zine and free ebook. However, some beginners make a mistake by giving a free ebook that is not related to their area of niche. For example, people who visited your dog's training website are looking for related information on dog's training and might not be interested in a ebook related to "How to lose weight". Bottomline, give ebook or e-zine related to your area of niche.

Almost everyone is publishing a e-zine nowadays so it's important to give something extra with the free subscription. You could offer a free gift or advertising when people subscribe.

You could include your own a link back to your website in your ebook and allow other people to give it away. If you don't want to take the time to write one, you could ask other writers permission to use their articles.

2. Provide your visitors with free content
Your content will be more attractive to your visitors if it's up-to-date or original. You could also offer people the option to reprint the content in their e-zine or web site.

People are surfing the internet for information and if your website contain information related to their area of interest, they are going to love your sites. So make sure that the information on your site is of relevant and good quality content.

Nowadays, blogging has become very popular as it is the best way to provide free content and keep it up to date. By writing a blog, you can build a community around your blog readers and create a trusting relationship to keep them coming back to your blog for fresh content.

3. Hold free online classes or teleseminars
You could provide free videos training on your websites or you can hold a teleseminars or free 7 days ecourse.

The idea of "live" information will definitely entice people to visit your web site. You will become known as an expert on the topic. This is a very good way to brand your name and get lots of targeted traffic to your website.

Many expert marketers are using this method to brand themselves and sold their products through these free online classes. You can also use these free online classes as a viral tool to attract mass traffic.

4. Provide free software
Software is a great gift as it is often perceived as higher value than ebook or newsletter.
It could be freeware, shareware, demos etc. You could even turn part of your site into a free software directory.

The free software should be related to your area of niche and is able to assist your visitors in some ways. For example, if your website is about weight loss, you can include a weight loss calculator on your website and allow your visitor free use or free download of the software.

If you know how to create software, you can include your links or banners within the software and allow other people to give it away. It is another great way to create viral marketing for your website.

Local Internet Marketing Services For the Small Business

By Allan Joseph

Small businesses who do not take advantage of the Internet are missing the boat when it comes to promoting their products and services. Applying local Internet marketing services can turn a small business web site into a lead generation tool.

Many businesses have taken the very first step of building a web site. There is a bit more to it, but more on that later. Let's focus on the web site first. Here are some tips to make the web site more effective. Keep the content and the look-and-feel simple and appealing. The visitor should be attracted to the site and able to find clear information about the company's products and services. In fact, there should be just enough information to answer the most common questions that the visitor might have. However, just putting up a site on the Internet isn't going to be enough to bring more business.

More and more people are using search engines to find local businesses. In fact, recent surveys indicate that more people are searching for local products and services on the web than in the "yellow" page books. The search engine companies are wise to that and are adapting their search results to how the web user searches. Therefore, businesses need to do two things to take advantage of this trend.

1) Adapt the web site to the ways people are searching for their services. That means optimizing the site pages each to the desired search phrase. That's called on-site SEO (search engine optimization).

2) Promote the web site to maximize the odds of being found. Promoting a site includes the following: getting listed in normal search results for targeted key phrases; signing up on local business directories; adding profiles to social media sites; and building links to the site from a variety of other sources. The Internet provides many opportunities for a site to be found beyond normal search engine results.

The key to driving more visitors to a web site it to make it easy for them to find it when they search for targeted keyword phrases related to the business. Nowadays, targeted keyword phrases include geographic modifiers. For example, "marietta ga hvac" gets searched hundreds of time a month. If a local HVAC contractor in Marietta, GA exploits that, his/her business can be well-positioned to capture that search audience.

Small business owners need to apply these tactics now... before their competitors do.

Promoting your web site on the Internet can seem intimidating or overwhelming. For more information on how to apply local Internet marketing services, visit Marietta Web Design.

Benefits Of A Website On Small Business Marketing

by Riley Summerlin

A website is a potent marketing tool.  The benefits of a website are enormous, often producing a night and day shift in your small business marketing.  Even a basic website can help you boost awareness of your products and services, expand into new markets, hook new customers, and transform your small business into a brand Goliath.

Follow along as we examine the top five benefits of a website on small business marketing and how to use the web as a powerful marketing tool.

1. Sell Without Sounding Like Carnival Barker

Because of the anonymous nature of the internet, the web is virtually unrivaled in creating a zero-pressure sales environment—a big bonus to any small business marketing their products and services online.  At their own pace, prospects can surf over to your website to learn more about your business, without the constant nagging of a salesman in their ear.  A website is an excellent marketing tool to create awareness of your products and services in a risk-free way for visitors to your website

2. Bust Down The Door To New Markets

Thinking about expanding your products and services into new markets?  Considering growing your business in new cities, regions, countries or niche industries?  Your website can offer an easy and cost effective way to expand your small business marketing into new markets.  Use your website as a marketing tool to test the waters with different advertising strategies, different languages and different product offerings.  Online advertising and marketing is much less expensive than other forms of traditional advertising and the web makes opening doors into national and global markets a snap!  With the proper planning, you can be targeting new markets in Las Vegas or Berlin practically overnight.

3. Put A Stranglehold On Current Marketing

Continue the sales cycle with customers who would have previously fallen out of touch with you.  One of the big advantages of a website is adding another layer in your marketing for prospects to learn more about you.; Use your website as a marketing tool by referring customers to your site for additional product and services details.  Present your business as the solution to their problem.; And keep prospects coming back to your website with educational resources, such as white papers, research reports and industry advice.

4. Look Like A Million Bucks.

First impressions are lasting ones, so make yours count!  For a lot of people, your website will be their first encounter they have with you.  As such, your website is an invaluable marketing tool for building your brand image.  A good looking website will build credibility, professionalism, honesty and confidence in your small business marketing and create a memorable brand.  Even if you run a one-person home business, that doesn't mean you have to look small online.  Unfortunately, some small business owners try to cut corners by using shoddy website templates, failing to realize how negatively a crappy website impacts their image.

5. Anyone Can Be Superman Online

The internet has eroded the gap between large companies and small businesses.  One of the advantages of a website: in the online world, your small business marketing and website rubs shoulders with the big boys.  Making it easier than ever for you to compete and win against them!  Use your website as a marketing tool to leverage your knowledge, experience, products and services against the competition.  Attack the big boys with long-tail keywords and market niches that larger competitors can't tap into.  This is your time to rise and shine!
